Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
